Guwahati: Majority of MLAs in Tripura pledged their support to chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb. There is dissident activity against Deb by a section of mlas in Tripura. On wednesday there was cabinet meeting.
Deb while talking to media persons on Tuesday said he was disheartened after some people did sloganeering “Biplab Hatao, Tripura Bachao (remove Biplab Deb, save Tripura). BJP’s central observer Vinod Kumar Sonkar visited the state on Sunday last.
Deb said, “At a public meeting here on December 13, I would take the advice and guidance of the people whether I should continue as Chief Minister of Tripura or I should leave the post. Let me say this I never thought of becoming Chief Minister of Tripura. I urge the 37 lakh people of Tripura to come to the public gatherings on Sunday (December 13) to advise me whether I should remain in the post of CM or not.”
In October last four mlas had met party President J.P. Nadda. BJP in alliance with the tribal based party Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) in the 2018 assembly polls defeated the Communist Party of India-Marxist led Left Front after 25 years.
In the 60-member Tripura assembly, the BJP had won 36 seats and the IPFT eight while the Communist Party of India-Marxist won 16 seats.
